A Powerful Tool To Help You Get The Most From Your Twitter Campaigns

There is no question that the big social networks like Facebook and Twitter open up all sorts of opportunities to Internet marketers and, in my opinion, Twitter is the one that stands out from the crowd. It allows messages no bigger than 140 characters so it is fast and to the point. It is quick and easy to build big numbers of followers and it is easy to automate much of the process using a number of third party tools. Automating the process as much as possible, like anything in Internet marketing, is the best way of multiplying your efforts and get more accomplished.

The main online tool that I use is a tool called SocialOomph. This is an extremely powerful online tool that will revolutionise the way you use Twitter. SocialOomph will allow you to automate many of the tasks that would otherwise make the use of Twitter as a marketing tool difficult, if not impossible.

There is both a free and professional version of the service. In fact, when you sign up for a free account you get a free 7-day trial of the professional version. The professional version has all the features of the free service with much, much more added. So what does SocialOomph do for you?

Well, let me tell you how I use it. First, I use it to schedule my tweets in advance. If you have been a reader on my blog for any length of time you will know that I am part-time Internet marketer and full-time truck driver. That means I need to make the very best use of my time. It means I cannot spend time every day writing tweets and posting them so I sit down once a week and set up my tweets for the coming seven days. SocialOomph then releases them to Twitter on the date and at the time I have scheduled. The end result is that it looks like I am sending my Tweets in a perfectly natural manner. Another advantage of this for me is that I am able to send my tweets at a time when the bulk of my followers are likely to see them, which, because I line in New Zealand, is when I am asleep because it is the middle of the night for me.

Part of the scheduling function within SocialOomph allows me to save and later re-use draft tweets. So, once I have written a tweet I am able to save it as a draft and call it up again later, alter any details I need to change and then send it out again. Many of you will be aware that I am a regular contributor at giveaway events as part of my ongoing list building efforts. When an event launches I set up a series of tweets in SocialOomph using my drafts, changing the URL to the new event and schedule the release… job done!

The other major task that I use SocialOomph for is to send a direct message (DM in Twitter speak) to all my new followers automatically. This service is not included in the free or professional versions but is a paid addon to either version of SocialOomph and worth far more than the few dollars I pay for it each month. In my DM I thank then for following me and suggest they check out my blog, which, as you are aware has an opt-in form for my mailing list. This works a treat for me.

One of the other features that I use, and iit is included in both the versions of SocialOomph allows you to shorten any URLs you put into your tweets. Bear in mind that you cannot make a tweet longer than 140 characters so every one is precious. In fact, you really want to leave 25 or so characters unused so that any of your followers can re-tweet your message if they like it. So using this feature http://www.donald-gavin.com/recommends/twitterexpert becomes http://dld.bz/dv7gN (click on each and see that they are in fact the same link).

These are just a few of the features of SocialOomph but there is so much more that it can do for you. For example, you can use it to efficiently track all your mentions and retweets, even across multiple Twitter accounts. You can use it to purge the DM’s in your inbox automatically after 7 or 30 days saving a lot of time doing it manually. The professional version allows you to automatically sort new followers into your lists based on the criteria that you set. It also allows you to mange an unlimited number of Facebook and LinkedIn accounts as well. In fact there is so much to look at I suggest that you take a look at the website for yourself and see if SocialOomph will help you in your business as it helps me in mine (just click on the banner to take a look).

Do you already use SocialOomph? I would love to hear your thoughts… just leave a comment. As always, feel free to share this article in any way that is helpful to you.
